About IH Galway Language Centre
IH Galway Language Centre was established in 1987 and is Galway’s oldest school. Located in the historic Bridge Mills in Galway city centre, the school runs both English language programmes and teacher training courses for international participants.
The school has 17 classrooms and is accredited by ACELS (Department of Education), QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) and Eaquals. It is an authorised Cambridge, IELTS and TIE examinations centre with a maximum capacity of 350 students, welcoming participants from more than 19 countries. The school is also an active participant in Erasmus KA1 and KA2 programmes.
Teacher Training
IH Galway Language Centre offers face-to-face CELTA and QQI TESOL training courses for new teachers. It also runs a range of Teacher Refresher courses for teachers from overseas — including CLIL, Irish Culture and Life, and Language Refresher courses — available for both open enrolment and closed groups.
Life in Galway
Galway was established in the 13th century and is located on the west coast of Ireland at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way. With a population of around 100,000 — including 25,000 university students — it is a lively, cosmopolitan city with a rich festival calendar including the Galway Arts Festival, Film Festival and Horse Racing Festival. The city is easily explored on foot, by bus or by bike.
