IH Cairo offers both DELTA Module 1 and Module 2, covering the theoretical and practical components of the Cambridge DELTA qualification. Each module is assessed and certificated separately by Cambridge English.
Module 1 — Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching
Module 1 is the theoretical component, designed to enhance English language teaching expertise through a focus on the key areas required to pass the Cambridge DELTA Module 1 exam. The IH Cairo preparation course offers 90 hours of training (60 hours live instruction + 30 hours practice and feedback), the only centre in Egypt offering in-person Module 1 tuition.
- Teaching methodologies, approaches and learner engagement strategies
- Language systems and the linguistic challenges learners face
- Resources, materials and reference sources for English language teaching
- Learning theories and evaluating language skills
- Regular practice sessions, mock exams and weekly assignments with individualised feedback
Upcoming dates: 3 August – 27 November 2026
Assessment: Two written papers of 90 minutes each, held at an accredited Cambridge Assessment English centre.
Module 2 — Developing Professional Practice
Module 2 is the practical component, focused on lesson planning, delivery and reflective teaching. Candidates build a portfolio of coursework including background essays, observed lessons and a Professional Development Assignment.
- Principles and practice of planning and managing student learning
- Understanding the language learner and the learning context
- Evaluating, selecting and using resources and materials
- Observing and assessing other teachers’ lessons
- Four observed lessons, with one externally assessed by a Cambridge English assessor

Assessment: Portfolio of coursework — three LSAs assessed internally by DELTA tutors, one assessed externally by a Cambridge English assessor.
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English Language
- Minimum three years of teaching experience
- Proficiency in PC applications (MS Office, internet)

Elham is an accomplished educator with extensive experience in English language teaching and teacher training, having worked at Capital Professional Development and the American University in Cairo. She holds a degree in English from Ain Shams University and diplomas in School Administration and Methodology.
