DELTA Module 2 focuses on the principles and practice of lesson planning and delivery. It is the practical component of the Cambridge DELTA qualification, assessed through a portfolio of coursework including background essays, observed lessons and a professional development assignment.
Module Aims
- Manage and support student learning effectively
- Evaluate lesson preparation and teaching effectiveness
- Understand the language learner and the learning context
- Compile a portfolio of coursework, including a Professional Development Assignment
- Observe and assess other teachers’ lessons
- Emphasise professionalism and explore opportunities for Continuing Professional Development
- Plan, teach and evaluate four lessons, with one externally assessed by a Cambridge English assessor
What Candidates Do
- Select language and skills areas, focusing on learner challenges and solutions
- Teach and evaluate lessons addressing the needs of specific learner groups
- Apply understanding of factors affecting learning and teaching to classroom practice
- Reflect on their own teaching and actively engage in CPD
Assessment
Module 2 is assessed via a portfolio of coursework. Three Language Systems/Skills Assignments (LSAs) are assessed internally by DELTA course tutors; the fourth is assessed externally by an independent Cambridge English assessor. Each LSA includes a background essay and an observed lesson.
