Job Description
Tutors on CELTA courses are responsible for all aspects of the course and are responsible for the day-to-day running and administration of the course. They are responsible for adhering to the CELTA syllabus and following all assessment guidelines, as well as managing all aspects of learning.
The teaching part of the job involves students at all levels and ages, including in-company courses and exam preparation.
Your profile and responsibilities;
- Candidate selection, interviews and processing
- CELTA Course Administration and awareness of Cambridge requirements
- Completion of Cambridge’s CELTA accreditation process
- Planning and delivering input sessions
- Managing teaching Practice and Feedback
- Assisting trainees in planning lessons
- Doing tutorials
- Treating trainee teachers with kindness and respect
- Marking written assignments
- Liaising with other tutors, and being a good teammate and colleague
- Dealing with the assessor
- Writing End of Course Reports
- Maintaining CELTA course materials
- Possibly mentoring trainers-in-training
- Involvement in IH AKCENT’s CPD programme
- Being a Delta and/or IHCYLT trainer or a Cambridge examiner is a plus but not mandatory
- Balancing teaching and training responsibilities – teaching students when not on a CELTA course
