Job Description
We are looking for people who have the following skills, competencies and experience:
English language teaching experience and qualifications
Essential
- CELTA or equivalent (i.e. 120 hour course with minimum of 6 hours observed and assessed teaching practice)
- English Language competencies (all skills) at C2 level
- Some experience in teaching children, teens and adults
Desirable
- A or B grade at CELTA or equivalent
- DELTA or equivalent
- Experience of teaching on exam preparation courses (i.e. Cambridge Exams)
- Cambridge Speaking Examiner
- At least 2 years TEFL teaching experience
- Experience of teaching young learners and/or teenagers
- Experience of teaching in an IH or AISLi school
- Experience working in Italy or other southern European countries
- Experience teaching online and face-to-face
English Language Competencies
Essential
- Teachers are expected to have good language awareness in order to effectively teach all ages from beginner to upper intermediate levels
Desirable
- Good language awareness in order to effectively teach up to C2 level
Teaching competencies
Essential
- Ability to provide students with the best conditions under which they can learn and flourish
- Ability to demand high from students of all ages
- Ability to teach well-prepared lessons with clear learning outcomes which meet students’ needs
- Excellent classroom management competencies which enable all students to stay focused and engaged in the lesson
Administrative competencies
(Essential)
- Effective skills for marking homework, writing course outlines and end-of-course reports
- Effective digital competencies to complete online registers, check online timetables
Essential requirements for the post
- Commitment to own professional and personal development (i.e. participating in CPD sessions & observations) and keeping up to date with the latest developments in TEFL.
- Essential to work some evenings, some split shifts and some Saturdays.
- Travel by public transport (or own transport) to offsite companies or schools to deliver courses.
- Work on non-teaching events and activities.
- Work on summer camp in June, if needed.
- Invigilate (and/or examine) during busy Cambridge exam periods.
- Able to speak Italian to at least A2/B1 level or readiness to learn.
