Job Description
We are looking for someone who will provide engaging, fun and communicative lessons and would love to hear from teachers keen to teacher learners aged 7-10, as well as older teens.
Timetable: Each teacher has a varied timetable, teaching different levels and age groups based on experience and preference. The majority of our students are young learners and we have many teens groups at B2, C1, C2. The school has classes for adults, IELTS and specialised business courses but the schedule will be largely made up of learners under 18.
Responsibilities: There is an average of 23 hours of teaching per week, with approximately two hours per week dedicated to training and development, more if required. In addition to the teaching hours, there is regular admin such as lesson planning and end of term tests and reports. Split days are kept to a minimum and everyone has two days off per week. Some classes may be online, but most will be face-to-face. A reduced timetable is possible - to be discussed at interview.
Support: A happy teacher usually means happy students, so creating a supportive and inclusive environment in which teachers can enjoy their time in Riga is a priority for us. The school provides comprehensive academic support and professional development, tailored to the teachers’ needs and interests as much as possible. Teachers enjoy a collaborative atmosphere where they can learn from a team of approximately 15 friendly and supportive peers - both local and international - whose experience is wide and varied. There are opportunities to give and receive constructive feedback from regular observations and appraisals, team meetings and training sessions. As well as in-house training and development, our teachers can take advantage of the wide variety of training courses offered by the IH network.
• Paid 3 day induction
• Weekly team meetings and training workshops
• Lesson planning support and guidance as required
• Peer and formal observations and personal feedback
• Well-stocked teachers’ room and resource library
• Free survival Latvian lessons
• Funding of up to 50% for CPD courses for those teachers staying longer than one contract.
• Parties and social events
'I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my first teacher year! A huge plus for IH Riga is the warming atmosphere that they are able to provide for teachers even at 2,467km of distance (Italy - Latvia)'. Alice
Other Benefits

Visa: Assistance with obtaining residency and work permit.
Holiday: There are up to 24 days paid holidays for a 9 month contract. The school is closed for approximately 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year and on some Latvian public holidays throughout the year.
