Essential Requirements 

  • Educated to GCSE standard (5 A*-C grades, including English and Maths) or equivalent. 
  • Proficient English speaker with strong communication skills. 
  • IT literate (with a focus on Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Experience working with children, ideally in a residential or educational environment. 
  • Experience in team leadership and people management. 

Desirable 

  • CELTA/DELTA qualification or similar teaching qualifications. 
  • Experience in financial management or cash handling. 
  • Experience working with mixed nationality students. 
  • Residential experience and familiarity with customer service in a group setting.

Role Overview 

As an Assistant Centre Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our summer school centre. You will work closely with the Centre Manager to oversee all aspects of the centre’s day-to-day running, from supporting staff to ensuring student welfare and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service. You will also be responsible for handling enquiries from parents and group leaders, managing student behaviour, and covering the Centre Manager’s duties during their absence. Your role is integral to providing a positive and safe environment for our students, ensuring they have a memorable and enriching experience. 

Camp Locations & Dates Oxford: 

2nd July – 13th August 2025, International House Oxford, St Edward’s School (12–17-year olds) 

Payment £882.21 week including holiday pay + paid induction. 

Contract 2–6 weeks, depending on operational needs. The role requires up to 48 hours per week, typically spread over a 6 day week, with 1 full day off per week. 

Key Responsibilities 

Centre Management & Leadership: Support and cover for the Centre Manager, ensuring the team is well-prepared and operational guidelines are followed. Provide guidance to staff, maintaining professionalism. 

Student Welfare & Safety: Ensure students' safety, well-being, and enjoyment during activities. Foster a respectful and inclusive environment, monitor behaviour, and enforce appropriate consequences. Adhere to safeguarding policies. 

Communication & External Relations: Liaise with group leaders, parents, and agents, addressing queries and concerns. Manage student disciplinary issues and report welfare or safeguarding concerns to the welfare team or Head Office. Organise student assemblies and meetings with group leaders. 

Operational Support: Coordinate with Head Office on student arrivals and departures, ensuring smooth transitions. Prepare accommodation in collaboration with the centre administrator and support staff on transfer days.
