IH Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand

International House Bangkok was founded in 1999 and has since grown into a major centre of English language teaching and teacher training in Thailand. We normally train over 500 CELTA students every year and run courses year round with full-time trainers.

We primarily help students to:

  • Become TEFL teachers with the Cambridge CELTA, DELTA, and other teacher training courses
  • Learn English intensively or part-time
  • Prepare for English exams and other exams
  • Study English online with IH Bangkok

Having only full-time CELTA trainers means that our trainers are constantly improving the course, thinking about how best to conduct training, and have more experience than the average CELTA trainer.

Life in and around Bangkok

Bangkok has been the most visited city in the world for the last 3 years, and for good reason. Bangkok is unlike anywhere on earth!

Take a canal boat through the sleepy sprawl on the west bank of the river and you’ll still find poignant reminders of the vanished “Venice of the East”. Take a genuine interest in the people and you’ll find that most Thais are gentle, considerate, humorous and inexhaustibly patient.

There can be few cities of its size where you can feel so safe: for a city of at least 10 million people, street crime is extraordinarily rare.

In Bangkok, eating well is an obsession and it’s no exaggeration to say there are restaurants on every corner and are cheap to eat at. Nightlife in Bangkok starts late and finishes later. There are bars and clubs to suit every taste from tango to techno, trampling over jazz, blues, dance and heavy metal. Bangkokians are also movie-crazy! There are 50 cinema screens within a 5 minute BTS ride of our office!

Studying at IH Bangkok

Bangkok is the most visited city in the world so getting here is super easy! Once you arrive, catching a taxi is very cheap, or getting the Airport Rail Link to the city centre is also a popular option.

IH Bangkok is located only 30 seconds’ walk from the main street of Bangkok and is very centrally located for students to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world’s favourite city (by visitor numbers). As soon as you leave our building, you’ll be in the very heart of this exciting, stimulating, and safe city. We are between the BTS Skytrain and the MRT Underground - so its easy to get to anywhere.

There are places for lunch and coffee in the lobby of the building we are located in. There are convenience stores everywhere that have most necessities, but there are also supermarkets, department stores, and shopping malls within 5 minutes walk of the school.

The cost of living is extremely cheap in Bangkok for local products and rent. If you were to compare the price of a Big Mac that's not really representative - we hope you'll enjoy our local food and get a taste for the real Thailand.
